AP article discusses Republican-leaning "outsiders" who are supposeldy "framing" political debate in this country. Along the way, it notes:
Ari Fleischer, the former White House spokesman, is a member of the Freedom's Watch board. The group's donors include Mel Sembler, a friend of Cheney's and longtime Republican fundraiser. Sembler was chairman of the legal defense fund for I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Cheney's former chief of staff who was convicted of lying and obstruction of justice in the investigation into the leak of a CIA operative's identity.
What is so interesting is all of the verbiage necessary to describe who Scooter Libby is. It is not like it was that long ago that his sentence was commuted. And, after it all, it was the most controversial clemency decision in the Bush administration. So, why the need for all of the identification information? Why do Americans need to be reminded just exactly who Libby is and what happened to him?
