Obama's Borrowed, Boring Line

The Portland Press Herald reports (here) that Barack Obama has uttered this strikingly original witticism in the Maine primary push. According to the report:

He told the crowd the president shouldn't have commuted the prison term of former vice-presidential chief of staff I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby after his conviction for lying to federal investigators who were probing the leak of a CIA officer's identity. "Even Paris Hilton got jail time," Obama said.
Oh, wait. That's not new. That is the Dick Durbin line Obama recycled for use in Tallahassee and in Atlanta. It is apparent that Obama enjoys mentioning Ms. Hilton and listening to the laughter that her name evokes. Of course, most Americans don't know enough about Scooter Libby, or his case, to react in any obvious, outward manner. So, I guess it is time to start generating rhetorical lines that are parallel and equally lacking in substance ...

* "Even Thoreau got jail time."
* "Even Galileo got prison time."
* "Even Alan Newton got jail time."
* "Even the women who peacefully carried signs for the right to vote got jail time."
