My Favorite Commutations
2. Oscar Collazo - He tried to murder Harry Truman and almost got him. Expressed no remorse. Asked for no mercy.
3. Eugene Debs - Socialist with great speaking skills.
4. Gerald Chapman - Mercy was not good for his health, or his neck. So, he tried to refuse it. But the courts said "no-go." Chapman was translated into the afterlife via new "humanitarian gallows."
5. Patricia Hearst - Received conditional commutation from Jimmy Carter and was later pardoned by Bill Clinton.
6. Frederik Ingram - The Washington Post said this commutation caused a "near sonic boom" in the Department of Justice - and yet who remembers it now? Let's see if Libby's commutation is compared to this one by anyone anywhere!
7. Rudolph Abel - The Soviet spy who did more damage to the intelligence community and our national security than Scooter Libby could have ever done. Traded for downed pilot Gary Powers and future draft pick.
8. Jimmy Hoffa - came with a condition that was questionable from a constitutional standpoint. Legal challenge ended when he disappeared.
9. Trio of Terror - They shot up the chambers of the House of Representatives and hit several congressmen along the way. Expressed no remorse. Did not seek mercy.
10. G.Gordon Liddy - What was Jimmy Carter thinking?
